Sandy Hewitt-Giacobbi

Executive Director

Sandy is a native of Beaufort and is the daughter of Tom and Dot Hewitt also of Beaufort.  She is a graduate of East Carteret High School, Carteret Community College, and Campbell University.  She has two sons.  One is a paratrooper with the US Army and the other is a recent graduate of East Carteret High School.  Sandy currently serves as the Co-President of the Beaufort Woman’s Club and has been a member for the past thirteen years.

For the past 30 years, Sandy has worked as a Non-Profit Manager.  She was the Director of Literacy Education and Basic Skills with Carteret Community College, the Executive Director for Communities In Schools of Carteret County and is currently serving as the Executive Director for Family Promise of Carteret County, the county’s interfaith organization for homeless families.   Sandy has proven to be a successful grant writer, raising more than 2.5 million dollars for Carteret County non-profits.  She has a strong passion for at-risk youth and homeless families in Carteret County.

Alex Buffaloe

Administrative Assistant

Alex is also Beaufort born and raised, although she now lives in Newport. She holds an Associate in Arts from Craven Community College, and is pursuing an accounting degree.  She’s been called the tech guru, having worked with computers nearly her entire life.

At Family Promise, she manages the site and the program’s social media presence.  She also keeps our guests’ tech ship shape.  She loves helping the families of Family Promise, and loves to see them off to brighter and better things!
